The Story Behind Furr Lap™:

Meet Rose, the inspiration for Furr Lap™, the Hands-Free Pet Lap Bed

During long work hours, Rose—my young Chihuahua mix—would bark at me from under the desk. She wanted attention.

I'd pick her up and put her in my lap. But she'd squirm, stand up, and refuse to settle. I had to hold her to keep her from jumping off. I couldn't work, she couldn't relax, and I felt guilty.

Frustrated, I searched online for a dog lap bed, something she could be comfortable on that would still let me work.

Nothing came up. No lap beds for dogs or cats. Just regular pet beds, blankets, and lap trays for computers. Nothing that would keep Rose stable in my lap without being too bulky.

When I couldn't find it, I made it.

I bought foam, fabric, and supplies at Hobby Lobby and built Furr Lap™. I shaped the seat deeper at my knees so Rose would sit level, added slim side walls to gently hold her in, and left the side against me open. Then I added a waist strap to keep it and her secure.

What started as a simple solution became a way to share everyday moments together.

We tested it at my desk and in my lounge chair where we watch TV. It worked immediately.

Then came the unexpected bonus—Jazi loves it too.

Now they each have their Furr Lap™ time. What started as a fix for one dog became something we use every day.
